Full hook-up sites are available for $20 per night with cable and Wi-Fi included. With sites available for $47 to $51 per night, the campground has a variety of amenities from a bathhouse and laundry to a playground, picnic pavilions, dog run, and basketball court. The pet-friendly park has 32 full hook-up sites, available for $32 to $38 per night, with access to restrooms, showers, a laundry, playground, and Wi-Fi. Centrally located to shopping, restaurants, and Lake Shawnee just off Interstate 70, the Deer Creek Valley RV Park has entirely concrete sites with landscaping and trees on the grounds. You’ll also find an in-ground pool open during the warmer months, a fenced pet play area, and a playground. There are also restrooms, showers, and a laundry, as well as LonnieQ’s BBQ restaurant just outside the park. Its pull-through sites with electric, sewer, water, Wi-Fi, and cable TV are $45 nightly. Take the whole family for a fun getaway to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari amusement park, known for their free sodas and sunscreen, and stay the night at nearby Lake Rudolph Campground and RV Resort. There are tons of activities from water parks and pools to basketball, game rooms, and paddleboats.

Visiting Mt. Rushmore

It is the largest and deepest reservoir in the Black Hills National Forest, boasting 14 miles of shoreline and 150 foot depths on 800 acres. Large brown trout are caught in Rapid Creek above and below the reservoir. Facilities include a full service marina with seasonal, monthly and daily slips, gasoline, oil, groceries, food service, shower and laundry. A National Forest visitor center on the south side of the dam is open seasonally and provides visitors with information about the building of the dam and forest management.

Located near the town of Custer, SD this isn’t the closest campground to Mt. Rushmore, but it more than makes up for it with so much to do. Amenities include multiple pools, a small general store selling essentials, kids playground, shower facilities, and more. As the excitement of your second day commences, cozy up at Happy Holiday RV Resort & Motel. The resort is billed as one of the highest rated parks in the Black Hills and has all the amenities travelers are looking for. RVs of all sizes, even the big rigs, are welcomed to hunker down at the full hookup sites. Although there are no campgrounds at Mt. Rushmore, the surrounding area is full of excellent camping options. You’ll find everything from full-service RV campgrounds, to lovely car-camping area, and even some great free dispersed camping in the Black Hills. Jackson is a pet-friendly haven, and your pet will love being able to explore the area with you. When it comes to travel in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, a good rule of thumb is that a pet may go anywhere a car may go as long as they are on a leash . Pets are permitted in Badlands National Park with some restrictions. Pets must be kept on a leash no more than six feet in length at all times.

Mystery Mountain Resort is also right down the road from mini-golf and a reptile garden. Nestled in Battle Creek Canyon and surrounded by majestic ponderosa pines, the area around Kemp’s Kamp is not only convenient to Mount Rushmore but also stunning. It’s also a great jumping off point for exploring the greater Black Hills tiol Forest, and the camp hosts are welcoming and willing to offer plenty of hiking and activity information. Rapid City is just a short drive away, and The Badlands, another favorite South Dakota attraction, isn’t much farther. These sites offer comfortable camping with an extra bit of power for those who need it. Sylvan Lake Lodge, a mile from the campground, offers a breathtaking view of Black Elk Peak.

Nestled in the Black Hills, Custer State Park is a top destination for wildlife viewing. Herds of bison, “begging” burros, elk, antelope, and bighorn sheep freely roam the 71,000 acres that make up the park. Spot them from the many trails around the park, or get up close on a buffalo safari jeep tour. Don’t miss the iconic Needles Highway, one of several scenic drives. Active visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and water play at several lakes and streams. With nine campgrounds offering RV and tent camping, historic lodges, and camping cabins, it’s easy to spend a few days here and explore all the park has to offer.

Book the Best Campgrounds in Billings, MT

The park offers OK wi-fi with the standard bathroom/laundry facilities. After calling many times and being told to get there early for a 50 amp pull through site, we were assigned a gravel site very close to other trailers. The table by the small grass area was old, paint peeling etc. Seemed like if they want you to join their membership they would put you in a better site. There was no room for outside eating or chairs because our rig took up the site with 4 slideouts. A night fee, we felt it was overpriced for the site we got.

The winery also has both a tavern and a restaurant along with a nine-hole golf course. The RV park offers full hook-ups for between $15 and $35 per day. The KOA Main Store, at the park entrance, is set up with convenience, souvenir, RV/camping supplies and more. Grapes and Grinds has South Dakota roasted coffee and wines, fudge, roasted nuts and more. The Outpost Store, in the center of the park, has a great section of toys, swim stuff, treats, camp gear and is also the activities hub and home to the Outpost Bike Shop. Our partial hook up sites are all grass sites with 30 Amp, water, fire ring and picnic table at each site.

Water flows uphill, tall people appear shorter, and what seems to be crooked turns out to be completely level. Making your way through the Mystery House is a physical experience you’ll never forget. After touring the Mystery House, dig up some treasures in the Geode Mine.
